:: ordination service ::

This past week, on Wednesday April 15, my mom received her Ordination as a minister with the Assemblies of God and I couldn’t be more proud! Most of you know that I’m a “PK” (pastor’s kid) – my dad has been a pastor since before I was born and a senior pastor since I was two and a half. To say that I “grew up in church” is a mild understatement. What many of you may or may not realize is that during that same amount of time, my mom has always been a pastor as well. She’s headed up music and creative arts (plus filling in various gaps along the way – secretary, designer, editor, envelope stuffer…etc) for longer than I’ve been alive, most of that time as a licensed minister. In the past couple of years, she decided to take the next step, go back to school, and pursue her full ordination. And at District Council last week, she received the rewards for her hard work! I was so proud (and yes, of course, cried a little) while she received her paperwork from District Superintendent Ray Rachels, then received her stole and was prayed over by Pastor Rene Parish (hope I spelled that right Rene!). It was a beautiful thing to watch and I was glad my son, though he’ll never remember it, was able to be there too!

That’s Pastor Rene with my parents after the ceremony was over.

Congrats again, Mom!
